About a week ago I went on an unsuccessful search for Adam/Sauli icons. I found a few which I promptly hoarded like a dragon short on gold, but that's all I found. Now, I wasn't quite sure where to search and didn't find any communities for them, so maybe I am simply overlooking where they're all stored, but in this apparent lack of Adam/Sauli icons I went on a binge and created a ton. And I do mean a ton. Exactly 120 of them, with ten more Sauli icons and four more Adam icons tossed in on the side there.

What? The world needs Adam/Sauli icons. It just does. :D

Folks, I know you're tired of me yelling at you, but you should be aware that there's a hearing this morning being held by the US House Judiciary Committee on a "copyright" bill that will essentially break the entire internet.

As drafted, the legislation would grant the government and private parties unprecedented power to interfere with the Internet's domain name system (DNS). The government would be able to force ISPs and search engines to redirect or dump users' attempts to reach certain websites' URLs. In response, third parties will woo average users to alternative servers that offer access to the entire Internet (not just the newly censored U.S. version), which will create new computer security vulnerabilities as the reliability and universality of the DNS evaporates.

It gets worse: Under SOPA's provisions, service providers (including hosting services) would be under new pressure to monitor and police their users’ activities. While PROTECT-IP targeted sites “dedicated to infringing activities,” SOPA targets websites that simply don’t do enough to track and police infringement (and it is not at all clear what would be enough). And it creates new powers to shut down folks who provide tools to help users get access to the Internet the rest of the world sees (not just the “U.S. authorized version”).

This is being framed as an attempt to fight hackers and pirates. Don't buy it. And don't think for a minute that it's going to stop there. This is bad. And at the hearing today, only one opponent of the bill is being allowed to testify.

Please do whatever you can to fight this. Email congresspeople. Sign petitions. Yell about it in every venue you can.

Yesterday at the EMAs Queen and Adam Lambert closed the show with a medley of Queen songs. Being the uber geek fan that I am, I’m just going to let that sink in for a minute. Queen. And. Adam. *happy sigh*

It was gorgeous. Mind blowing. The vocals were perfect. Brian May was amazing. The theatrics were phenom. It was one of those moments where everything came together perfectly.

As you may be aware the oil spill & potential disastrous effects to wildlife & environment off the coast of Tauranga is frightening. A small number of little blue penguins have already been caught in the oil spilled to date with growing fears that more will be effected. Skeinz has been asked to help with the penguin relief by knitting small Penguin PJ’s to help protect the birds & prevent them from preening their feather & ingesting the toxic oil. . . .

Mississippi Personhood Amendment

Mississippi is voting on November 8th on whether to pass Amendment 26, the "Personhood Amendment". This amendment would grant fertilized eggs and fetuses personhood status.

Putting aside the contentious issue of abortion, this would effectively outlaw birth control and criminalize women who have miscarriages. This is not a good thing.

Jackson Women's Health Organization is the only place women can get abortions in the entire state, and they are trying to launch a grassroots movement against this amendment. This doesn't just apply to Mississippi, though, as Personhood USA, the group that introduced this amendment, is trying to introduce identical amendments in all 50 states.

What's more, in Mississippi, this amendment is expected to pass. It even has Mississippi Democrats, including the Attorney General, Jim Hood, backing it.

The reason I'm posting this here is because I made a meager donation to the Jackson Women's Health Organization this morning, and I received a personal email back hours later - on a Sunday - thanking me and noting that I'm one of the first "outside" people to contribute.

So if you sometimes pass on political action because you figure that enough other people will do something to make a difference, make an exception on this one. My RSS reader is near silent on this amendment. I only found out about it through a feminist blog. The mainstream media is not reporting on it.

If there is ever a time to donate or send a letter in protest, this would be it.

What to do?

- Read up on it. Wake Up, Mississippi is the home of the grassroots effort to fight this amendment. Daily Kos also has a thorough story on it.

- If you can afford it, you can donate at the site's link.

- You can contact the Democratic National Committee to see why more of our representatives aren't speaking out against this.

- Like this Facebook page to help spread awareness.

Author's notes: Haha, this was actually co-written entirely. furorscribiendi half and then I ended up adding in another half to hit 100. This is what happens when you're chatting and one of you goes, "oh look, a prompt! :D" ♥

However clever Sauli is, Adam knows what he is up to. It's a lazy, sunny Sunday morning, one of the few neither of them have to work. It’s full of crossword puzzles, sidelong glances and roaming feet. Glances that burn with promise. Every time Sauli gets up - to get another cup of coffee, to get the sugar for his coffee, to put together another bowl of fruit - he always ends up sitting a little closer when he returns. Adam doesn't mind though, he's always been able to handle playing with fire. And Sauli's getting good at it too.

Our novel Stranger has five viewpoint characters; one, Yuki Nakamura, is
gay and has a boyfriend. Yuki's romance, like the heterosexual ones in
the novel, involves nothing more explicit than kissing.

An agent from a major agency, one which represents a bestselling YA novel in the same genre as ours, called us.

The agent offered to sign us on the condition that we make the gay
character straight, or else remove his viewpoint and all references to
his sexual orientation.

This isn't about that specific agent; we'd gotten other rewrite requests before this one. Previous agents had also offered to take a second look if we did rewrites… including cutting the viewpoint of Yuki, the gay character.

It's time to stand up and demand change. Spread the word everywhere if you are just as angry and outraged by this.

The Plaguey Cheese by iulia-linnea (PG; Harry Potter, Kreacher, Luna Lovegood; 1304 words) There were advantages to sharing Grimmauld Place with Luna, but receiving her "gifts" wasn't one of them.

This is all I love in the Harry-Luna dynamic, with appropriately "loony" Luna and out-of-the-loop Harry. I don't even have the words for this, I just love it. It's sweet, funny, and captures my sense of Harry and Luna perfectly. >:) Go read it!
